[에너지신문] 02 June 2015 - Thai company One Asia Development Thailand has signed an agreement with the Quang Tri province of Vietnam to develop a 1,200 MW gas-fired power project in the province. The project would use domestic gas from offshore fields. Construction is expected to start in 2017 and to be completed in 2019. Total investment is estimated at US$2.4bn and the project is expected to supply power to Vietnam, Laos and Thailand.
In September 2013, EGAT International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Thai national power utility EGAT, had won a licence to build and operate the 1,200 MW Quang Tri coal-fired power project in central Vietnam. The project included two power plant projects, the coal-fired project developed by EGAT and a proposed gas-fired power plant (now developed by One Asia).
