04 November 2013 - The French energy regulator, Commission de régulation de l’énergie (CRE), has approved the electricity market coupling with the United Kingdom, as part of the North-West interconnection zone. The market coupling will enable to allocate automatically interconnection capacity between power networks to the most efficient trans-border transactions. The CRE estimates cost reductions at €50m. When the North-West market coupling will be completed, it will include 15 countries representing 75% of the European electricity consumption.
