[에너지신문] 25 May 2016 - The North Yorkshire County Council (United Kingdom) has approved a shale gas hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") application submitted by Third Energy (a subsidiary of Barclay's Global Natural Resources Investments), paving the way for fracking operations by the end of this year.

Shale gas firm Cuadrillia had received approval for two permits, which were finally rejected by local authorities in 2015, prompting Cuadrilla to appeal against the decision. The British government has since then changed the regulatory framework to approve shale gas permits at government level. Cuadrilla now expects to receive government approval in the summer of 2016 to start fracking in mid-2017.
