[에너지신문] 11 April 2016 - The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of India aims to have 48 GW of grid-connected solar PV capacity by 2018-2019, out of 100 GW planned by 2022 under the National Solar Mission.

India already has around 5.8 GW of grid-connected solar capacity (early March 2016) and plans to add 12 GW in 2016-2017, 15 GW in 2017-2018 and 16 GW in 2018-2019; capacity additions will accelerate to 17 GW in 2019-2020 and 17.5 GW each in 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.

The government estimates that Rs 6,000 bn (US$90bn) will be necessary to reach the 100 GW solar target by 2022. The 100 GW target comprises 40 GW of solar rooftop installations and 60 GW of large and medium scale grid connected solar power projects.
