[에너지신문] 21 December 2015 - German energy group RWE has announced that it would not complete the construction of its 800 MW Block D at the Hamm coal-fired power plant in Nordrhein-Westfalen (Germany), which was postponed several times due to damage and delays in the installation of a steam generator. The plant was expected to start operations by the end of 2015 but falling wholesale electricity prices and the changed energy policy environment degraded significantly the profitability of the plant. Starting operations from the plant would not prove economically responsible and the new unit will be shut down before having been commissioned.

RWE invested around €1.1bn in the project and will now seek compensation with the insurance company and the manufacturer of the steam generator.
