[에너지신문] 04 April 2016 - China General Nuclear Power Group (CGNPC) has connected the fourth reactor of the Hongyanhe nuclear power plant, located in the Liaoning province of China, to the Chinese grid.

The Hongyanhe nuclear power plant consists of six CPR-1000 units, rated 1,000 MW each. The first two reactors were commissioned in June 2013 and May 2014, respectively, and unit 3 in August 2015. The construction of the fourth unit started in August 2009 and the unit should be commissioned later in 2016.
Construction started on the fifth reactor in March 2015; the unit is expected to be commissioned in November 2019 and will be followed by unit 6 in August 2020. When fully operational, the six units are expected to generate 45 TWh/year of electricity, avoiding the consumption of 15 Mt/year of coal and the emissions of 40 MtCO2eq/year.

The Hongyanhe nuclear power plant is owned and operated by Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power, a joint venture between CGNPC and China Power Investment (45% each), with the Dalian Municipal Construction Investment holding the remaining 10%.
