[에너지신문] According to the International Hydropower Association, global hydropower capacity increased by 33 GW in 2015, including 2.5 GW of pumped-storage, raising global installed hydropower capacity to 1,211 GW. In 2015, total hydropower generation is estimated at 3,975 TWh. China accounted for 59% of global installations (19.4 GW, including 1.2 GW of pumped-storage), followed by South and Central Asia with 5.5 GW (including 1 GW of pumped storage), South America with 3.4 GW, East Asia and Pacific (2.7 GW), North and Central America (1 GW), Africa (0.7 GW) and Europe (0.3 GW). Turkey alone added 2.3 GW, more than Brazil (2 GW), India (1.9 GW), Iran or Vietnam (1 GW each). At year end 2015, China accounted for 26% of global hydropower capacity with 320 GW, followed by the United States (102 GW), Brazil (91 GW), Canada (78 GW), India and Russia (51 GW each) and Japan (50 GW).
