[에너지신문] 22 March 2016 - The Woodfibre LNG project near Squamish (British Columbia) has received environmental approval from the federal government; the project had received environmental approval from the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) in October 2015. This new approval concludes the project’s environmental assessment review process.

Along with the approval, Woodfibre LNG has announced a multi-phased contract for Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED), awarded to KBR. This work will include FEED optimization, pre-FEED, FEED, and development of a fixed price offer for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services.

The project, developed by Woodfibre LNG at the former Woodfibre Pulp and Paper Mill, will be a gas liquefaction plant, able to produce 2.1 Mt/year of LNG and to store 250,000 m3 of gas. The project could be operational in 2018 at the earliest.
