[에너지신문] 16 February 2016 - According to preliminary statistics released by the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Sea, primary energy production in France remained stable (-0.2%) in 2015, as nuclear power generation increased by only 0.2% and wind power generation rose by nearly 25%. This strong increase in production offset the 13% decline in hydropower generation, for the second year in a row.
In 2015, primary energy consumption rose by 1.2%, thanks to a 7.8% increase in gas consumption; the consumption of other energies remained relatively stable in 2015, despite falling oil prices, due to warm temperatures. Coal consumption rose by only 0.1%, oil products demand by only 0.2% (+1.2% for gasoline, after 25 years of uninterrupted fall) and electricity consumption by 0.9%.
The energy independence rate (excluding renewable energies and wastes) declined by 0.6 percentage point in 2015 to reach 50.9%. Energy-related CO2 emissions progressed by 2% compared to 2014.
