[에너지신문] 01 February 2016 - US upstream oil and gas company Kosmos Energy has announced that it had made a significant gas discovery in its Guembeul-1 exploration well in the northern part of the St. Louis Offshore Profond license area in Senegal.

Kosmos holds a 60% interest in the Guembeul-1 well, along with Timis (30%) and Petrosen (10%). This discovery raises the company's gross resource estimate for the Tortue West structure from 8 to 11 Tcf (from 225 to 310 bcm) and the gross resource estimate for the Greater Tortue Complex has increased to 17 Tcf from 14 Tcf (from 395 to 480 bcm).

In addition, Kosmos Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Société des Pétroles du Sénégal (Petrosen) and Société Mauritanienne Des Hydrocarbures et de Patrimoine Minier (SMHPM), the national oil companies of Senegal and Mauritania, respectively, for the development of the cross-border Greater Tortue resource.
