[에너지신문] 18 January 2016 - Finnish power utility Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) has started testing the instrumentation and control (I&C) systems of the third unit currently under construction at the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland. The I&C systems will be used for operating, monitoring and controlling the EPR reactor; their start will be first milestone achieved on the Olkiluoto-3 (OL3) project in 2016.

The 1,600 MW project, developed by Finnish utility TVO and built by Areva, has been under construction since 2005 and was expected to be commissioned in 2009. The project has been delayed to 2014 and then to 2018 and its cost has doubled from €3bn to about €6.5bn, raising tensions between TVO and Areva. TVO now claims €2.6bn in compensation from Areva, which claims €3.4bn in penalty interest and delayed payments from TVO.
