[에너지신문] 22 December 2015 - The US congress has adopted the 2016 spending bill and removed a 40-year-old ban on crude oil exports (billed passed 65-33 in the Senate after a 316-113 House vote); the US president has signed the bill, after having rejected a draft to lift the ban in September 2015. Crude oil exports are not expected to soar in the current context of global glut in oil supplies.
Oil producers have long been pressing for an end to decades of crude oil export restrictions. The ban had been enacted after the oil embargo by Arab members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) following the US decision to re-supply the Israeli military during the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.
