[에너지신문] 10 November 2015 - According to the Emissions Gap Report published by the U.N. Environment Programme (UNEP), greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions pledges ahead of the COP21 will not prove sufficient enough to limit the increase in global temperature within 2°C. To meet the 2°C limit, global emissions levels should not exceed 42 GtCO2 in 2030, which would correspond to a 23 GtCO2 reduction compared to the baseline scenario (65 GtCO2) and a 18 GtCO2 reduction compared to the current policy trajectory. However, the full implementation of conditional and unconditional plans for emission cuts would lead to GHG emissions of 54 GtCO2 by 2030, i.e. 12 GtCO2 over the threshold.
