[에너지신문] 01 September 2014 - Argentina national oil and gas company YPF has reached an agreement with its Malaysian counterpart Petronas to invest US$550m in shale oil pilot project in Argentina. The companies would develop the La Amarga Chica shale oil block, part of world’s fourth-largest shale deposit in Vaca Muerta, in the province of Neuquén. Petronas will contribute by US$475m to the investments. During the pilot stage, expected to start in the first quarter of 2015, more than 30 wells will be drilled. YPF will be the operator of the block and assign 50% of the concession to exploit the block. Depending on the results of the pilot stage, companies could continue the development of the block in a commercial mode and would invest more than US$1bn in the first 5 years.
