31 July 2013 - The Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two Thai companies, GMS Power Publish and Global Power Synergy, for the construction of a CCGT power plant in Ayeyawady and Yangon Regions. The proposed CCGT power plant would have a capacity of 500 MW and would be developed by the State (50%) and the foreign companies (50%). Half of the project would be financed through a long term loan from the Asian Development Bank. Feasibility study will undertake in Bogale and Kyaiklat Townships of Ayeyawady Region and Kawhmu Township of Yangon Region.
